Tequila

A Statesman agent who dances through danger until mania strikes.

Tequila is an elite agent for the Statesman organization, the American counterpart to the British Kingsman service. Introduced in Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), she serves as a field operative during the joint mission against Poppy Adams and her drug cartel, the Golden Circle. Initially deployed alongside Eggsy Unwin after the destruction of the original Kingsman headquarters, Tequila represents the high-tech, bourbon-infused aesthetic of Statesman. Her role becomes critical when the agency's leader, Champagne, identifies a threat within their own ranks, leading to significant personnel changes that reshape the team dynamic for the final assault on Poppy Land.

Lore & Background

Tequila is a dedicated Statesman agent based in Kentucky, where the agency poses as a Bourbon whiskey distillery. She is initially paired with Eggsy Unwin to track down the leaders of the Golden Circle. However, her tenure as an active field partner is cut short by a bizarre biological reaction. While on duty, Tequila develops a distinctive blue rash and begins exhibiting signs of severe mania. This condition renders her unable to continue alongside Eggsy in the field. As a result, she is replaced by another Statesman agent, Whiskey, who becomes Eggsy's new partner for the remainder of the mission. Her removal highlights the unexpected dangers posed by the Golden Circle's toxin and the fragility of even elite agents when exposed to it.

In Their Own Story

The crisis began when Tequila developed a blue rash and displayed clear signs of mania while working with Kingsman agents Eggsy and Harry Hart. Statesman leader Champagne made the difficult decision to bench her, replacing her with Whiskey as Eggsy's partner for the infiltration of the Golden Circle's antidote factory in Italy. Later in the film, after Eggsy and Harry secured the laptop needed to deploy the antidote drones from Poppy Land in Cambodia, Tequila was not involved in the final confrontation where Whiskey revealed his treachery. Instead, her replacement, Whiskey, was killed by Eggsy and Harry for attempting to let drug users die. In the film's resolution, following the defeat of the cartel and the arrest of the corrupt US President, Tequila is reassigned. She takes an exchange assignment at Kingsman headquarters in London, while Ginger Ale, another Statesman agent, is appointed to fill Whiskey's former position within Statesman.

Reader's Guide

Tequila operates exclusively as a member of Statesman, the American spy agency that partners with Kingsman during the events of The Golden Circle. Her primary function in the narrative is to serve as an initial liaison and field partner for Eggsy Unwin after the British team arrives at the Kentucky distillery. However, her operational capacity is compromised when she contracts a blue rash and suffers from mania, forcing Statesman leadership to replace her with agent Whiskey. Agents working alongside her must be aware that this condition is linked to the Golden Circle's toxin, which causes users to become manic before succumbing to paralysis. For fans tracking her career path, Tequila survives the mission but transitions roles; she does not return as a primary field operative in the film's climax but is instead moved to an exchange program at Kingsman, swapping places with Ginger Ale who moves up within Statesman.
