Merlin's journey in The Golden Circle begins in chaos. After Charlie Hesketh hacks into the Kingsman database, missiles destroy the London headquarters, killing all agents within except Eggsy. Merlin is not present at the headquarters during the attack; he later joins the mission from a remote location. Following the destruction, Eggsy and Merlin reunite and travel to Statesman, a Kentucky-based agency posing as a Bourbon whiskey distillery. There, Merlin learns that Harry Hart survived his previous wounds thanks to Statesman's nanotechnology but has lost his memory. Working alongside Statesman leader Champagne and agent Ginger Ale, Merlin helps restore Harry's mind. A pivotal moment occurs when Harry, suffering from delusions due to his recovery, shoots the Statesman agent Whiskey. Merlin does not assist in saving Whiskey; instead, Whiskey is shot by Harry and later killed by robotic dogs. Later, at Poppy Land in Cambodia, Merlin accidentally steps on a land mine while trying to retrieve the laptop, and sacrifices his life, refusing to let Eggsy take his place. Eggsy is forced to leave him behind as Merlin detonates the mine, dying instantly to allow the team to continue the mission.

The attack on Kingsman headquarters leaves only Merlin and Eggsy standing. They flee to Kentucky, where they meet Statesman agents Tequila, Whiskey, and Ginger Ale. While Harry struggles with amnesia, Merlin and Ginger Ale work to cure him. At the Glastonbury Festival, Eggsy tracks down Clara, but the mission takes a dark turn when Harry shoots Whiskey, suspecting treachery. Merlin helps stabilize the situation as they track the antidote factory in Italy. There, an ambush by Golden Circle henchmen leads to Harry shooting Whiskey again, though this time Whiskey is revealed to be working against them. The climax unfolds at Poppy Land in Cambodia. As Eggsy steps on a land mine, Merlin immediately swaps places with him, sacrificing his life so Eggsy can proceed to defeat Charlie and retrieve the antidote laptop. His death allows the team to secure the password from the dying Poppy Adams, ultimately saving millions of lives.
